National Museum's Collection of Revolutionary Themed Artworks Tour Exhibition Opens at RUC

On December 26th, marking the 131st anniversary of Chairman Mao Zedong's birth, the "Nurturing the East: National Museum's Collection of Revolutionary Themed Artworks Tour Exhibition" opened at the Renmin University of China Museum. The exhibition was guided by the National Art Fund Management Center, hosted by the National Museum of China, and co-hosted by the RUC Museum.

Key figures in attendance included Zheng Shiquan, Vice Chair of the RUC University Council, Chen Chengjun, Executive Deputy Director of the National Museum of China, Yue Zhiyong, former director of the Revolutionary Cultural Relics Department and vice president of the China Cultural Relics Society, Dong Jia, a professor from the university's School of CPC History & Party Building, and Huang Li, the exhibition's curator, as well as representatives from various schools and related cultural institutions.

Zheng Shiquan highlighted the university's efforts in promoting "great ideological and political courses" centered on revolutionary cultural relics. He emphasized the strategic cooperation with the National Museum of China and the exhibition's role in integrating the history of higher education with the Chinese revolution, revolutionary traditions with the spirit of the times, and moral with aesthetic education. The university will take this exhibition as an opportunity to actively carry out collaborative research on revolutionary cultural relics and give full play to their role in educating people.

Chen Chengjun underscored the initiative of the National Museum of China to bring revolutionary artworks to campuses, leveraging RUC’s expertise in Party history for a series of lectures. This collaboration aims to enliven revolutionary culture and further the grading, sorting, and innovative utilization of revolutionary relics. In the future, both sides will continue to take the inheritance and the promotion of revolutionary spirit as their goals, innovate the ways of revitalizing and utilizing revolutionary cultural relics, and rely on thematic exhibitions to promote academic exchanges and talent training.

Yue Zhiyong described the exhibition as a vivid lesson in Party and revolutionary history, showcasing the educational and research functions of museums. He hopes that both sides will continue to deepen cooperation in the future and jointly build the collaborative research center into a a high-end think tank for the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics and an important platform for academic exchanges of revolutionary culture.

Dong Jia delivered a special lecture on "Mao Zedong's Art of Reading," providing insights into Mao's reading habits and their impact.

Li Zhen, the museum's director, presided over the opening ceremony.

Following the ceremony, Huang Li guided attendees through the exhibition, detailing the historical context of the artworks and the revolutionary journey led by Comrade Mao Zedong and the Chinese Communist Party.
