On the afternoon of October 18th, Vice President Yang Huilin welcomed a distinguished delegation from Macquarie University. Leading the Macquarie University delegation was Deputy Vice Chancellor, Jim Piper, who was keen on increasing the ties between Renmin and Macquarie faculty and students.
Vice President Yang stated that international exchange is a priority for Renmin, and welcomed the idea of greater student and faculty exchange. Macquarie University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the China Scholarship Council, naming Renmin as a prospective key partner to provide scholarship opportunities for students. Executive Dean of Macquarie University, John Simons, mentioned that journalism, media, political science and law are opportunistic disciplines for joint degree programs. Both universities agreed that Dual PhD programs would provide wonderful opportunities for students to study abroad conduct important research and write dissertations.
