On February 18, Lin Shangli, President of Renmin University of China(RUC), met with José Scherleud, President of the Mexican Academy of Sciences, and his delegation.
Lin Shangli stated thatRUC has conducted extensive explorations in buildingthe research center for civilizational exchange and cooperation, empowering national governance with artificial intelligence and big data, and deeply participating in local government decision-making consultations. He noted that both China and Mexico have a long-standing history, and the prospects for exchanges and cooperation between the two sides are broad. RUC will rely on its integrated advantages linked with China’s cities such as Suzhou, Yiwu, Fuzhou, and Yibin, and further strengthen cooperation with the Mexican Academy of Sciences in areas such as personnel exchanges and academic research, jointly exploring topics like social governance and national development, promoting people and cultural exchanges and mutual learning between the two countries, and contributing to deepening the relationship and cooperation between the two countries.
José Scherleud stated that the Mexican Academy of Sciences, established in 1959, has a membership network covering the whole country and is one of the most important institutions in Mexico for disseminating, supporting, and promoting scientific research in various fields. It has made outstanding contributions to promoting scientific research in Mexico and international academic exchanges. He looks forward to conducting more in - depth cooperation with RUC in academic exchanges in the future and opening up a new chapter of people and cultural exchanges and academic cooperation between China and Mexico.
Enrique Escamilla, Deputy Head of the Mexican Embassy in China, Sergio Kwiatek, Head of Political Affairs of the Mexican Embassy in China, Antonio Portilla, Head of Education and International Cooperation Affairs, and representatives from the International Office, School of Mathematics, Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, and Center for Latin American Studies of RUC participated in the meeting.
Subsequently, José Scherleud delivered a keynote speech titled "Building a World Model through Science" at the first session of the "Global Celebrities" forum of the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies' Regional and National Studies and had a discussion with experts.
