Speaker Profile:
Wu Zhen holds a Ph.D. in Literature from Kyoto University and is currently a Professor and Doctoral Advisor at the School of Philosophy, Fudan University. His concurrent positions include:
- Executive Vice Dean of the Shanghai Confucian Academy, Fudan University
- President of the Shanghai Confucian Association
- Vice President of the Chinese Society for the History of Philosophy
- Standing Council Member of the Chinese Society for Japanese Philosophy
- Academic Committee Member of the International Confucian Association
- Council Member and Academic Committee Member of the Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies
- Council Member of the Zhu Xi Society
- Council Member of the Japanese Inoue Enryo Global Association
- Founding Member of the Society for Cultural Interaction in East Asia, among others.
He previously served as a Dual-appointment Researcher at the Institute of Literature and History, Fudan University; a Visiting Scholar at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences, National Taiwan University; a COE Visiting Professor at the Center for Cultural Interaction Studies, Kansai University, Japan; and a Foreign Researcher at the Faculty of Letters, Kyoto University, Japan.
He has authored over ten monographs, including Studies on the Post-Yangming School, Research on the Taizhou School, New Explorations in East Asian Confucianism, The Conceptual Imagination of the Confucian Religion Movement, Re-reading Zhu Xi’s Thought, A Study of the Thought Behind the Late Ming–Early Qing Moral Exhortation Movement, and Zhu Xi’s Learning and Wang Yangming’s Learning: An Outline of Neo-Confucianism in the Song and Ming Dynasties.
