Speaker bio:
Professor Rolf Hecker received his Doctor of Economics degree from Moscow State University in 1981. From 1980 to 1990, he worked at the Central Institute of Marxism-Leninism of the Central Committee of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany, serving as the academic secretary of the department and the head of a sub-department. In 1990, he participated in the establishment of the Berlin MEGA Editing Promotion Association and has been the chief editor of the Marx-Engels Studies Series - New Edition since 1991. From 1992 to 1995, he worked at the MEGA Workstation of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences. From 1991 to 1997, he was a member of the editorial board of the Marxist Historical Dictionary. Since 2007, he has been entrusted by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation to be responsible for the revision and supplementation of the German edition of the Collected Works of Marx and Engels. Since 2010, he has served as an expert in the translation and compilation of Marx and Engels' works at the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau.
Professor Hecker has successively edited or participated in the editing of several volumes of MEGA2, including volumes II/6, II/8, II/10, II/12, II/13, and IV/14. He has revised or compiled volumes 1, 8, 12, 13, 40, 41, 44, and 45 of the German edition of the Collected Works of Marx and Engels (MEW). In addition, he has authored, edited, or co-edited dozens of books and collections on Marx and Engels, published about 200 related papers and book reviews, and planned, hosted, or participated in dozens of exhibitions on Marx and Engels.
