RUC partners with JD.com to launch smart campus logistics system
2025.05.23

Renmin University of China has officially launched a state-of-the-art express delivery service center at its Tongzhou campus, marking a significant step toward revolutionizing campus logistics.

In collaboration with JD Logistics, RUC unveiled its new “1+N” smart logistics service system, aiming to create a national benchmark for intelligent, convenient, and eco-friendly campus logistics.

The initiative reflects the university’s commitment to innovative development and enhanced student services. At the heart of the new model is a nearly 700-square-meter centralized logistics hub, integrating intelligent parcel sorting, value-added services, and comprehensive logistics management. Complementing the center is a network of advanced smart devices — including automated sorting systems, smart lockers, and unmanned delivery vehicles — that enable campus-wide delivery coverage and high efficiency.

The new logistics center features an intelligent core system capable of fully automated package identification and sorting, significantly improving delivery speed and accuracy. A smart dispatch system powered by big data dynamically optimizes locker placement and reduces wait times during peak seasons. Unmanned delivery vehicles, mobile lockers, and building-specific robots work together to ensure 24/7, precise delivery, reducing labor dependency and boosting efficiency.

Beyond logistics, the service center integrates lifestyle functions through JD’s broader ecosystem, introducing modules such as “express delivery,” “campus concierge,” and “customized service scenarios.” The platform will support services like JD Laundry and multi-category recycling, promoting sustainability and improving student life.

Looking ahead, the center aims to process over 10,000 packages daily with a sorting accuracy rate of 99.9%. During peak periods such as graduation, the start of semesters, and major shopping festivals, the center will offer flexible services tailored to the specific needs of campus users.

This pioneering collaboration sets a new standard for university logistics in China and exemplifies how technology and system synergy can reshape campus infrastructure for the digital age.
