Bournemouth University Pro-Vice Chancellor visits RUC

On September 9, Prof. Matthew Bennett, Pro-vice Chancellor of Bournemouth University paid a visit to Renmin University of China and met with RUC Vice-President Zha Xianyou.
Vice-President Zha bid a warm welcome to Prof. Bennett and briefed him on the situation of RUC’s academic excellence and its special position in Chinese higher education, which is demonstrated by the latest ranking by disciplines conducted by China’s Ministry of Education. He also gave an introduction to the university’s five development strategies, namely talent cultivation roadmap, think-tank construction, internationalization strategy, new campus development and image building. Vice President Zha pointed out that the substantial cooperation between universities lies in academic exchange and scientific research cooperation. He suggested the two universities start working together in psychology and then expand to other areas.
Pro-vice Chansellor Bennett introduced to recent development and disciplines of Bournemouth University. He expressed that he was very glad to see scholars from both universities have already been discussing the possibility of working together in diversified forms, suggesting that both sides establish a comprehensive interscholastic partnership based on scientific research cooperation and student exchange.
Zhang Tiantian, Dean of Graduate School, and Rick Fisher from School of Health and Social Care introduced the working plans on cooperation in psychology and gerontology, as well as Bournemouth University's graduate programs and scholarships. Prof. Du Peng, Director of Scientific Research Office and Director of Gerontology Institute; Prof. Sun Jianmin, Director of Psychology Department;and Ms. Cheng Xin, Deputy Director of International Office are also in attendance.
