RUC Alumni Day 2013: forever young in remembrance

October 3 is the School Anniversary Open Day of Renmin University of China and its annual Alumni Day. On this day, 2013, nearly 2000 alumni of different grades and majors came from all directions back to the University. They gathered together with faculty and students at school, reliving campus life in youthful days.
At 9:00 a.m., homecoming activities were held in the square before New Library. Vice-President Yi Zhihong in charge of alumni affairs attended the event. Alumni from class of 1979 paid a visit to their schools, accompanied by students in school, and gave lectures.
At 9:30 a.m., a football game kicked off between “RUC Class of 1995 Football Team” and “RUC Women Football Team”. President Chen Yulu attended the opening ceremony of the football game and communicated kindly with team members.
At 10:00 a.m., themed meeting aiming to celebrate the 30th anniversary of RUC Class of 1983 was held at Run Run Shaw Conference Center. Vice-President Yi Zhihong attended the activity and gave an opening speech. President Chen Yulu, who used to study at RUC School of Finance, made a speech on behalf of Class of 1983. After a glimpse of campus-life video clip, alumni from Class of 1983 were appointed as “Off-Campus Counselor” in a ceremony. At the end of the activity, Vice-President Yi passed the commemorative flag for the 30th Anniversary Alumni Day onto the representative of Class of 1984.
In the afternoon, RUC Class of 1989 joined together to celebrate their graduation twenty years ago in Mingde Hall. President Chen also attended the event and delivered an opening address, in which he gave a warm welcome to alumni and expected them to come back to RUC often at their convenience. Class of 1989 put on nostalgic performances, while Vice-President Yi passed onto the representative of 1990 Class commemorative flag for the 20th Anniversary Alumni Day. The attendees then went for a buffet party on the square before Mingde Hall, enjoying splendid songs sung by alumni who used to be members of RUC chorus.
On that day, Alumni joyfully paid visits to New Library, Hall for School of Chinese Classics, RUC Museum, and other newly-built architects on campus. The University offered buffet meal tailor-made for alumni to recall days in RUC.
