Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona delegation visits RUC

RUC Vice President Yi Zhihong met with Prof. Lluis Quintana Trias, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, UAB, on October 31, Thursday. The two universities have shown strong willingness in promoting exchange programs in different forms.
Vice President Yi introduced strong disciplines, English master program, International Summer School and scholarship programs to the guests. She welcomes UAB students for studying in RUC and expects more student exchange programs.
Cooperation between the two law schools has been enhanced in recent years. On the basis of that, the two universities now expect to improve the cooperation to a wider range of fields. VP Yi sees the current progress as a “very good starting point”, saying that RUC law school ranks the first in China and RUC also enjoys competitive edge in other social sciences.
“I think that is a good idea to start from this area. We can expand it to other areas,” said Yi.
Prof. Trias also expressed his satisfaction, saying that the cooperation between law schools could be the beginning of joint efforts. He thinks that the two universities have similar strong disciplines and it is a “quite wide range of possibilities”.Prof. Trias also introduced the newly established undergraduate program of East Asian study in UAB. Besides, he discussed with Yi about the possibilities of corporation internship arrangements for Chinese and Spanish students as well as the short term exchange program in Spain with the support of the Bank of Santander Scholarship.
Those who also attended the meeting were Mrs. Marta Vilalta, Director of International Office, UAB, Ms. Chen Ke, UAB Shanghai Office, Mr. Shi Yanan, Deputy Dean of School of Law, RUC and Mr. Sheng Xiwen, Deputy Director of International Office, RUC.
Accompanied by Mr. Shi Yanan, UAB guests visited School of Law and attended the working meeting on joint master program afterwards.
Founded in 1968, UAB has developed comprehensive disciplines and research fields including humanity, social sciences, health science, experimental and technological sciences. In November 2010, RUC and UAB signed the agreement of exchanging students. In June 2013, the law schools of the two universities signed the agreement of China-Europe Joint Master Program.
