RUC delegation attends the 2014 APAIE Annual Meeting and Exhibition

 From March, 17th to 20th, RUC Vice President Prof. Yi Zhihong led a delegation and attended the 2014 Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) annual meeting and exhibition in Seoul, South Korea.   This is the 9th annual meeting and education exhibition of APAIE, jointly hosted by 14 Korean universities including Kyung Hee University, Korea University, Sung Kyun Kwan Univeristy, Ewha Woman University, and so on. The theme of this year is “Enhancing Cross-Border Education Cooperation with Universities in Asia-Pacific: From Past to Present and the Future”. Over 1300 representatives from 87 institutions across Asia, Europe, America, Africa and Oceania attended this meeting.   On this annual meeting, Vice President Yi Zhihong took part in the APAIE BOD meeting and chaired a session hosted by RUC which themed at “The New Development of China’s Higher Education”. Prof. Wang Qiong from School of Education of Peking University, Vice Director Xu Yao from the international office of Sun Yat-sen University and Director Zhang Xiaojing from the international office of RUC gave speeches and had discussion with representatives from Europe, America, Australia and other countries on the policies of China’s higher education, International students in each university, international development strategy and MOOCs, etc. 1   During the exhibition, the international summer school and master programs in English of RUC had aroused a lot of attention. Representatives of RUC discussed in depth with many universities on establishing and enhancing cooperation. 展会   The delegation led by Vice President Yi Zhihong also visited RUC’S long-term partner, Korea University, during the exhibition and met with its Vice President Jaeho Yeom. The two universities have come to a consensus on continuing the exchange student agreement, expanding cooperation and communication channels and other issues. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA   RUC delegation also visited RUC exchange students studying in Korea University and some alumni in Korea during their visit. 3    APAIE is the most influential university organization in Asia-Pacific. It was founded in 2006 and would host an annual meeting and exhibition during March and April every year. And now APAIE is the third largest regional education organization, following NAFSA and EAIE. RUC is one of the founders and executive BOD members of the organization, and has been part of the annual meeting and exhibition since 2006. RUC had successfully hosted the 4th annual meeting, whose theme was “Higher Education in Asia-Pacific under the Global Financial Crisis: Developing the Leadership and Promote Harmonious Development”, and education exhibition.
