Eighth RUC Postgraduate "Academic Star" Selection Launched

RENMIN UNIVERSITY, 23 April 2014: The Eighth RUC Postgraduate "Academic Star" Selection Launching Ceremony was held in the Second Conference Room, Sir Shaw Run Run Building on the afternoon of 21 April. The event was jointly organized by the Graduate School, the Communist Youth League Committee and the Postgraduate Association of RUC.
In his welcome message, Executive Vice-President Wang Liming said that the selection of academic stars has promoted innovation and established an excellent platform for collaboration. He said that the selection process must be fair and open, and that the event should aim at inspiring students to explore their academic potential and improving their research skills.
Vice-President Wang expressed hope that students willimprove their academic skills and embrace innovation through their participationin this event. Students should combine theory and practice, and strive to contribute the society and the nation, he said.
Other speakers included President of Postgraduate Association Chen Hao, the 2013 winner of the "Academic Star" Ding Zhenhui, the Vice-Dean of RUC Graduate School Song Yuanfang and Secretary of Communist Youth League Committee Fei Jia. They introduced the "Academic Star" selection process, gave examples of lessons learned from participating in this event and discussed the impact of identifying academic stars in the university.
Since 2007, there have been seven sessions of the "Academic Star" selection, during which thousands of academic papers and publications have been submitted. Postgraduate academic stars havehad publications in leading domestic and international journals and presented their work at international conferences.
