RUC’s Tennis Team Places at National University Tournament

nd, the Twentieth National University Tennis Championships, held at China University of Mining and Technology, drew to a close. RUC’s tennis team placed in the men's second group (upper-level group), the men's singles, and three women's singles. This was the first time for RUC’s tennis team to place in an upper-level group of the National University Tennis Championships.

The tournament is the largest of its kind with 694 students competing from 145 colleges and universities. It is divided into four groups, A, B, C, and D, each with several events, including men’s and women's singles, men’s and women's doubles –24 events in total. In preparation for the tournament, RUC’s tennis team trained tirelessly, with daily drills of six to eight hours throughout the summer vacation. At the tournament, players faced adverse weather conditions, including a heavy rainstorm and a tight event schedule; the matches were challenging. RUC players won three titles in the upper-level group, placing second, third, and fifth. HE Leiming, a senior in the School of Environment and Natural Resources, and MENG Rangeng, a senior in the School of Labor and Human Resources placed in the men’s and women’s second group singles respectively, setting a new record for Renmin’s tennis players in the University Championships and making their school proud.
