RUC Vice President WANG Liming Holds Speech at Think Tank Summit in Turkey

th, Renmin University’s Executive Vice President Professor WANG Liming led a research group to Ankara to hold talks with Turkish officials, scholars, and business leaders on China’s “One Belt One Road” initiative, G20, and other economic policy related concerns affecting Sino-Turkish relations. The group visited the Central Bank of Turkey, the Turkish Ministry of Economic Affairs, Middle East Technical University, and the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV). During their stay, the group was also received by the Chinese Embassy, the Chinese Consulate General, and the Bank of China’s Ankara office.
Representatives from Turkey’s major political parties and media outlets, along with local officials and well-known scholars attended an international symposium hosted at TEPAV’s headquarters on the comparison between Chinese and Turkish economic reform. Professor WANG Liming was invited to give a speech, centering his remarks on "China's Reform and the World from the Perspective of Civil and Commercial Legislation.”
The visit to the Turkish capital not only presented an opportunity for Chinese scholars to deepen their insights on economic policies in countries along the western Silk Road; it also allowed Turkish scholars and fellow discussants a chance to enhance their understanding of China and the Chinese economy today. The exchanges during the international think tank symposium and other meetings were marked by a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect.
Executive President of the Chongyang Institute of Finance, WANG Wen, also accompanied the delegation. Resulting in one of the strongest economies in the Islamic world today, Turkey’s economic rise has been swift and ongoing. WANG’s visit on this occasion marks an important step toward strengthening Sino-Turkish ties in policy development and research, particularly concerning the “One Belt, One Road” Initiative.
