On the afternoon of September 18th, the National Academy of Development and Strategy at Renmin University held a special meeting to promote the construction of “Policy Research with Chinese Characteristics.” RUC President CHEN Yulu gave a speech in which he highlighted the importance of the think tank for policy recommendations as an institute that was committed to utilizing the gains of scientific accomplishments in the humanities and social sciences for the country’s welfare. CHEN reiterated the importance of increased interaction between scientific theory and practice – how one should be continuously informing and refining or aiding the other. ZHANG Jianming, Executive Vice Chairman of the University Council, noted that in terms of pooling the professional resources and wisdom of experts and leading scholars across a range of disciplines, Renmin University’s National Academy of Development and Strategy is at the forefront of think tank work among leading policy research institutes. Currently its main foci are on economic governance and development, political and social governance, and innovation.
