RUC Vice Chairman ZHANG Jianming Heads RUC Delegation to Canada and the US

From October 18th to 24th, Renmin University’s Executive Vice Chairman ZHANG Jianming led an RUC delegation to Chicago, Ottowa, and Toronto. Among their stops were the Chicago City Council Finance Committee, the University of Chicago, the University of Illinois, the University of Ottawa, Carleton University, and the University of Toronto. The goal of the trip was to promote RUC's Government Student Abroad Internship Program and academic collaboration with universities in the US and Canada. 会见芝加哥金融委员会主席和参议院斯蒂文森先生 会见芝加哥市财长萨默斯先生 The first stop on their trip was Chicago, Illinois, where the delegates were received by United States Congressman, Danny K. Davis, former U.S. Senator, Adlai Stevenson III, and Chairman of the Chicago City Council Finance Committee, Edward M. Burke Alderman. They met with and held talks with several local government officials at the Chicago City Hall. 访问伊利诺伊大学芝加哥分校 In the last three years, the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago have supported nearly 20 student interns from Renmin University of China. State and city government officials noted that RUC’s student interns had proved bright and capable and that the program would be continued with more internship positions in the future. 访问伊利诺伊大学香槟分校1 On October 21st, the RUC delegates visited the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) before traveling on to visit Ottowa University and Carleton University in the Canadian capital on October 22nd. The University of Ottawa, established in 1848, is the world’s largest bilingual university and aims to promote bilingualism and French instruction. RUC delegates spoke with representatives of the school on strengthening cooperation between the University of Ottowa and Renmin University’s Sino-French Institute.
