In March 2016, RUC’s Master in International Business (MIB) was ranked first nationwide in Chinese university rankings of academic programs and disciplines. The Master in International Business, which is offered by RUC’s School of Economics, was established in 2011; it upholds the school’s motto of “scholarship for the benefit of the people” and seeks to equip future business elites with the necessary skillset to face the increasingly complex challenges of international business. This was the first year that international business programs were evaluated in China’s nationwide university rankings. The university to be ranked first in the nation for a discipline or program had to prove itself both by its accomplishments and its potential for further development. In order to establish the MIB program, Renmin University’s School of Economics recruited qualified faculty from its Department of International Economics and Trade. In order to guarantee quality in teaching, the program has undertaken continued training for its faculty.
