Former US Senator Adlai Stevenson III Visits RUC

On May 9th, former US Senator from Illinois and honorary professor of RUC, Adlai Stevenson III, came to Renmin to give a talk on the topic of “American Politics and My Personal Experience of Developments in Sino-US Relations.” Faculty of relevant departments and students preparing for their internships in the US joined the event.
Before the lecture, RUC Executive Vice Chairman ZHANG Jianming welcomed the former Senator and visiting delegation for a brief exchange. They were joined by John Rogers, former president of the Midwest U.S.-China Association, the association’s Executive Vice President, Professor XUE Yuchuan, and Director of RUC’s Student Affairs Office, SONG Dawo. The two sides discussed topics in connection with Sino-US relations.
In 2013, Professor Stevenson helped establish the RUC US Government Internship Program, which offers Chinese students a unique opportunity to experience the United States and learn about the workings of US government agencies. On the occasion, Director of the China Social Sciences Press, , introduced Professor Stevenson’s book, “American History and the Story of the Black Book,” which has recently been translated into Chinese. RUC Vice Chairman ZHANG and John Rogers, among others, also offered their remarks.
