On June 3
rd, the Afghan Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Shakhrat Nuryshev, visited Renmin University and held a lecture on “China-Kazakhstan Relations and One Belt, One Road.”

Before the lecture, RUC Chairwoman JIN Nuo met with the Ambassador to discuss and promote Sino-Kazakh educational and cultural exchange.

During his talk at RUC’s Business School, Ambassador Nuryshev gave an overview of the current state of Sino-Kazakh economic relations and also introduced Kazakhstan’s economic development strategy. The Ambassador believes that the Silk Road Economic Belt holds great importance for economic development in the region. In 2014, Kazakhstan’s President, Nursultan Nazarbayev, introduced a new development program, “Kazakhstan’s New Economic Policy” or “Path to the Future” (Нұрлы Жол), which, according to the Ambassador, complements China’s One Belt One Road initiative proposed by XI Jinping one year earlier.
