RUC President LIU Wei Welcomes Pusan National University's President JEON Ho-Hwan

On the afternoon of September 8th, RUC President Liu Wei met with JEON Ho-Hwan, president of South Korea’s Pusan National University. President JEON and his delegation met with RUC leadership to discuss education reform, quality control, and educational exchanges, among other matters. Also on the agenda were the development and expansion of cooperation between the two schools.
Having recently taken office, President JEON made a point of coming to RUC within the first three months of taking up duties. He commented on Renmin’s fine reputation as one of the country’s leading comprehensive research universities as well as its excellence in the Chinese humanities and social sciences, particularly in the fields of economics, politics, law, and statistics, which are among the nine disciplines in which RUC ranks first nationwide. JEON also noted the growing influence of Renmin University globally as it continues to internationalize.
RUC expressed its sincere interest in expanding collaboration with Pusan National University on various levels. Highly ranked internationally and a leading university in South Korea, Pusan National excels in the areas of shipbuilding, marine engineering and aviation; it also attaches great importance to the development of its humanities program.
Following this initial meeting, the leadership of both schools will meet to further discuss the details of future cooperation.
LI Zhenshi, Deputy Director of RUC’s International Office, joined the talks, which were preceded by a tour of Renmin’s campus museum, which is currently exhibiting cultural relics of the northern Spring and Autumn period.
