Vice Chancellor of UK's University of York Professor Koen Lamberts Visits RUC

On the afternoon of the 27
th of October, Vice President YI Zhihong held a meeting with Professor Koen Lamberts, Vice Chancellor of the University of York.

During the meeting, Vice President YI welcomed Vice Chancellor Lamberts to Renmin University, briefing him on the achievements of the University, such as its focus on humanities and social sciences, leading the nation in such fields as theoretical economics, applied economics, law, political science, sociology, journalism and communication, statistics, business administration and public administration. She also took the opportunity to express the importance of the close relationship between RUC and the University of York, pointing out the bright history of collaboration between the two institution’s departments of history, philosophy and public administration. Following, Vice President YI informed Professor Koen of the RUC’s English language Master’s programs, summer schools and scholarships, noting that these provided many fantastic opportunities to further strengthen the collaborative partnership between the two institutions.

Vice Chancellor Lamberts expressed his thanks to RUC, taking the occasion to give a run-down of the state of affairs at the University of York. During the discussion, Professor Lamberts noted that both institutions were members of the Worldwide Universities Network, expressing hope that they could use this network as a platform to continue to strengthen collaborative research between the universities. He also conveyed his confidence that in the future more students from the University of York would take part in RUC programs, and his desire that more RUC students would come to study at the University of York.

Deputy Director of the International Office, CHENG Xin, also attended the meeting.
