On the morning of October 23th, the opening ceremony of the 9th RUC Sports Culture Festival and the 2020 Freshmen Athletic Games were held at the stadium. Accompanied by impassioned music, the national flag guards marched into the filed, followed by 25 school athlete teams. Professor WU Fulai, Vice Chairman of the University Council RUC, delivered the opening speech. Professor WU pointed out that physical education plays an important role in improving physical health, and he hoped that students become more confident, brave and active through physical exercise. After the athlete and referee representatives taking the oath, all the faculties and students at present joined in a cheerful warm-up exercise. Professor LIU Wei, President of Renmin University of China, announced the opening of the 2020 Freshmen Athletic Games. In order to encourage teachers and students to participate in physical training and to carry forward the spirit of sports, university leaders came to the track and lead the opening run. After fierce competitions, teams from the following schools won the top eight team scores: the School of Business; the School of Journalism and Communication; the School of Finance; Mingli Academy; Suzhou Campus; the School of Law; the School of Sociology & Population Studies; the School of Public Administration. The school teams winning the Sports Ethics Awards are the School of Business; the School of Public Administration; the School of Labor & Human Resources; the School of Applied Economics; the School of Agricultural Economics & Rural Development; Mingli Academy; the School of Economics and the School of Finance.
