On November 27-28^th, the 12^th Convention of the Institute of Russian, Eastern European & Central Asian Studies was held in RUC Shenzhen Research Institute. Prof. ZHU Xinkai, Vice President RUC and Dean of Shenzhen Research Institute, gave his speech on the opening ceremony. He pointed out that Renmin University was one of the first Chinese universities to carry out studies on Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and has achieved fruitful results through years of research. After the outbreak of COVID-19, international relations around the world remains in uncertainty, which makes the analysis and judgment of scholars more important to the world. Prof. LI Fenglin, former Chinese Ambassador to Russia, and Prof. LI Jingjie, member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, attended the convention. Officials from relevant departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce were invited to deliver keynote speeches. Around 100 scholars from institutes such as the Development Research Center of the State Council, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Renmin University of China, Tsinghua University, Peking University and Fudan University joined the forums. This year’s convention was broadcasted live online, and more than 800 scholars and students participated in the forums on the internet.
