Renmin University of China and EUI Strengthen Ties

Renmin University of China (RUC) has signed a renewed partnership agreement with European University Institute (EUI). The two partners aim to enhance joint education and research activities in the social sciences and humanities. RUC and the EUI will work closely together to facilitate and develop joint activities, benefitting faculty, students, researchers and staff in both institutions. Activities will include the promotion of sabbaticals and exchange of staff, the establishment of the International Mobility Programme for Master’s Students organized by the EUI’s School of Transnational Governance (STG) and the organization of an exchange programme for researchers at the doctoral level. The two institutions will also collaborate on joint executive education trainings, workshops, conferences, collaborative projects, summer schools and research. Asian Affairs and China-EU relations will be at the thematic centre of the renewed collaboration, as well as International Relations and Transnational Governance more broadly. Renmin University of China, established in 1949, was the first modern university founded by the People’s Republic of China. Jointly financed and supported by China’s Ministry of Education and the Beijing Municipal Government, RUC is a research-oriented university focusing on humanities and social sciences. It also offers a range of courses in the natural sciences, information technology, and environmental sciences and is home to a number of influential research centers and think tanks. Established in 1972, the EUI is an intergovernmental institution involving 23 Member States of the European Union. The EUI offers research and high-level learning opportunities in the social sciences at the master’s, PhD, postdoctoral, and executive training levels.
