On September 11, international students from RUC were invited by the International Liaison Department of the Beijing Communist Youth League to participate in the “Reunion Under the Full Moon: Celebrating Chinese Culture Together” Mid-Autumn Cultural Exchange Event, alongside international students from other universities in Beijing. Together, they experienced the rich essence of this traditional Chinese festival and the profound depth of Chinese culture.
The students visited the Shougang Industrial Park, where they walked along the elevated walkways, overlooking the park's industrial relics, and witnessed the transformation of the “industrial rust belt” into a “city showcase.” By the banks of Qunming Lake, they gazed at the Shougang Big Air ski jump and retraced the footprints of the Winter Olympics, gaining a deeper understanding of the Olympic spirit.
Through a bilingual animation, the students learned about the origins and history of the Mid-Autumn Festival. In the traditional crafts section, they made snowy mooncakes and Mid-Autumn Festival lanterns by hand, experiencing Chinese traditional craftsmanship. In the interactive zone, they participated in ancient games like pitch-pot and ball tossing, further engaging with and gaining insights into Chinese traditional culture.
Through participating in this event, the international students not only experienced the profound and vibrant aspects of traditional Chinese culture, but also strengthened friendships with youth from other countries and universities, gaining a more authentic, multidimensional, and comprehensive understanding of China.
