RUC President Chen Yulu met with Dr. Koen Becking, President of Tilburg University, Netherland, on October 18, Friday. Recalling his experience in Tilburg University as a visiting scholar in 1998, President Chen expressed that many similarities can be found in the disciplines of the two universities. “Based on the current exchanges and Sino-Europe governmental cooperative agreements, we should promote joint cross-discipline research programs and cross-discipline student exchange programs to educate future leaders that meet the demand of modernized countries,” said Chen.  Dr. Becking introduced his visits in other Chinese universities, saying that Tilburg University put much emphasis on the teaching and research of multi-disciplines and cross-disciplines. He expects to provide intellectual support to the common challenges that China and Europe face with the cooperation with RUC. “It is a pride of Tilburg University that President Chen Yulu is our alumnus,” said Dr. Becking. Dr. Becking was accompanied by Mr. Jacques D. Van Vliet, coordinator of academic exchange of the office of China affairs, Tilburg University. Dr. Zhang Xiaojing, Director of International Office, RUC, also attended this meeting. Representatives from the schools of economics and administration, law, and humanity, Tilburg University, visited School of Finance, School of Economics, School of Law and School of Literature respectively. Discussions on cooperation between schools were conducted. Founded in 1927, Tilburg University situated in the southern city of Tilburg, Netherland. Strong disciplines are economics, finance, administration and law. 5 schools in this university are School of Economics and Administration, School of Law, School of Social and Behavior Sciences, School of Humanity (Communication, Culture, Philosophy and Religion), as well as Catholic Theological Institute.
