Seminar on State Governance Modernization and Government Reform held at RUC

On Dec 22nd, the seminar on State Governance Modernization and Government Reform, co-sponsored by Institute for Public Governance and Department of Public Administration, School of Public Administration and Policy, was held at Run Run Shaw Conference Center at RUC. At the seminar, Prof Cheng Tianquan, Director of Institute for Public Governance and Prof Dong Keyong, Dean of School of Public Administration and Policy made speeches respectively. Prof Li Jiafu, Party Secretary and Associate Dean of School of Public Administration and Policy, Prof Lan Zhiyong, Associate Dean of School of Public Administration and Policy and over 20 researchers from China’s top universities and research institutions were in attendance. The opening ceremony was hosted by Prof Zhang Chengfu, Associate Dean of School of Public Administration. image01  The seminar consists of four sub-forums. At each separate forum, experts and scholars had in-depth discussions including intensifying reform comprehensively, making clear the objective and key parts of government reform, building discourse system of China’s Public Administration and how China’s academia of Public Administration tackle China’s social problems. Prof Gao Xiaoping and Prof Bao Jing from Chinese Public Administration Society, Prof Zhou Zhiren and Prof Wang Puqu from Peking University, Prof Zhang Xiaojin and Prof Jing Yuejin from Tsinghua University, Prof Shi Hexing from Chinese Academy of Governance, Prof Hu Xiangming from Beihang University and Prof Lan Zhiyong, Prof Kang Xiaoguang, Prof Liu Taigang, Associate Prof Wang Chonghu, Associate Prof Tang Jun, Associate Prof Liu Peng and Doctor Cheng Xiuying from School of Public Administration and Policy made keynote speeches. The forums were separately moderated by Prof Sun Baiying, Prof Kang Xiaoguang, Prof Qi Fanhua and Associate Prof Tang Jun.  image03 The seminar serves as a useful exploration of the key theoretical question “boosting the modernization of state governance system and governance capability” which was put forward by the 3rd plenum of 18th CPC Central Committee. It is a fruitful attempt for the Institute for Public Governance and School of Public Administration and Policy to create RUC’s public administration brand.
