In his keynote speech, Vice-Principal Yang Huilin said that the University Student Innovation and Practice Programme represents an important opportunity for Renmin University. He said that the programme successful implements the University’s road map for cultivating undergraduate talents and enhancing students’ research skills.
Under the guidance of supervisors, students discover, explore and understand truth throughout the process. Vice-Principal Yang encouraged students to take this opportunity to learn how to gain knowledge from life-experience in society, and scientifically systematize what they have learned.
The four award-winning students made thematic reports on their innovation projects: Peng Qiaoyang and Xue Jia from the School of Sociology and Population Studies, Du Chuhan from the Law School, and Zhang Yifang from the School of Public Administration and Policy.
They introduced innovation projects from a variety of perspectives, including project initiation, research and design, survey and interview, data collection and analysis, report writing and project completion defense. They also shared their thoughts on the experience, and took questions from the audience.
The annual Innovation Forum is part of the Renmin University Student Innovation and Practice Programme. Its objective is to promote research-oriented study, to provide guidance for students who wish to start innovation projects, and to serve as a reference to those who are implementing innovation projects.
In conjunction with the Forum, the Academic Affairs Office organized an exhibition of outstanding projects from the Renmin University Student Innovation and Practice Programme 2012.
The Innovation Forum is jointly organized by the Academic Affairs Office and the Student Innovation and Practice Society.
