RUC leadership visited RUC Men's Volleyball Team

RENMIN UNIVERSITY, 6 May 2014: The RUC Men's Volleyball Team was honored by a visit from the Chairman of the University Council Jin Nuo, President Chen Yulu, and Executive Vice-Chairman of the University Council Zhang Jianmin today. The RUC leadership came to congratulate the team for winning the championship at the 2013-2014 Chinese University Volleyball League finals.
Chairman Jin expressed her thanks to the coaches and athletes of RUC Men's Volleyball Team. She praised them for their good performance, iron will, and rich experience in the competition, as well as the scientific training skills they acquired. Chairman Jin expressed her hope that every athlete would carry forward the spirit of sports and iron will in the games afterwards. And she said that she anticipated that the athletes would defeat their competitors through their excellent mental quality and wisdom.
Chairman Jin also urged the athletes to relax themselves and relieve their stress. Being the professional players who live as amateurs, the team members bore the burden of both studying and training, she said. Chairman Jin told them to balance the academic against competition, and their health against their future development. She believed both the individual players and the team as a whole will make further progress.
After the visit, university leadership inspected the construction of indoor athletic tracks. During the inspection, they spoke highly of the preparation work undertaken for the 52th Beijing University Track and Field Games.
RUC won the championship at the 2013-2014 Chinese University Volleyball League finals. The men’s volleyball team played six wins and one loss, for a total score of 17. RUC also won the right to participate in the 2015 Summer Universiade, to be held in Gwangju, South Korea.
Renmin University of China was one of the universities to receive approval to accept elite athletes as students. Through setting these elite athletes as role models, RUC aims at improving the quality of PE education, and setting the tone of dynamic athletic sports. It encourages both teachers and students to take an active part in sporting activities.
