2014.05.15
RENMIN UNIVERSITY, 14 May 2014 (Via RUC English News):RUC issued the first report “Go Global: Studies on International Business Anti-Corruption Rules Research (I)” on May 13th. This report, jointly conducted by Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies of RUC (RDCY),the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC),the China Chamber of International Commerce (ICC China) and the Bank of China (BOC), is the first of this kind in China, one of the series on international common practices aiming at offering guide and ad hoc advice for the country’s business community. D16T0174 The report consists of “ICC Rules of Combating Corruption”, “ICC Anti-corruption Clauses” and their annotation and interpretation. The report introduces to China for the first time the common rules andregulations of anti-corruption established by ICC and gives practical suggestions based on the in-depthinterpretation. Thus it turns to be a must for businesses nationwide. Read before you go global, to paraphrase the well-known western proverb. Corruption slows down the growth of China’s companies, and this could have been avoided if companies understood the international business environment and regulations, said Chen Yulu, president of RUC, at the report launch on Tuesday. He also pointed out that the report marks the beginning of internationalcooperation among non-governmental sectors in fighting corruption as more Chinese companies go global and in the meanwhile shows the great importance the international community and Chinese government have attached to these issues, which will contribute to the international competence of domestic firms en route “going global”. Harold McGraw, President of ICC, said he hopes related institutes and firms cooperate with each other, stick to the rules and regulations in investments and trades in order to create a fair competition environment. Zhang Yanling, the former Vice-President of BOC, expected the advice would reach the corporate community through education and media. She hoped that the report will serve as a guide for local enterprises to keep away from corruption, and to encourage further discussion on the issue. D16T0413 Ever since 2009 anti-corruptionhas become one of the major international issues at the G20 summits. With the increasing momentum of Chinese firms “going global”, the efforts on the study of international regulations especially anti-corruption rules should be intensified to be advisable for themto avoid potential risks.
