RUC Alumna SHI Yan Selected as 2016 Young Global Leader

On March 16th, the World Economic Forum officially announced the names of the Young Global Leaders Class of 2016. 121 young elites around the world from the business, political, academic sectors, media and the arts, were chosen for the Global Leaders Class of 2016. SHI Yan, a 2006 graduate of RUC’s School of Agricultural Economics & Rural Development was selected for the program for her contributions to Chinese sustainable agricultural development and her pioneering role in promoting organic “community-supported agriculture” (CSA) in China. Established by World Economic Forum founder and chairperson Professor Klaus Schwab in 2004, the Forum of Young Global Leaders brings together promising leadership in from different industries with innovative ideas who are serious about confronting and finding solutions to global challenges. SHI Yan, who attained her doctoral degree at Renmin University and went on to do her post-doctoral research at Tsinghua, is one of these forward-thinking young leaders. She established a reputation for social commitment and leadership as co-founder of the Little Donkey Farm and co-founder of Shared Harvest. She has published 20 articles on the topic of agricultural development and has also translated key works on agriculture and CSA into Chinese. a副本
